On Friday, the A's got a wee bit ahead of themselves and put out the following ad for their weekend series against the Giants.

Oh, so witty.

Being a Giants fan, I found the ad to be mildly offensive and somewhat annoying.  I was a little surprised to see it at all, since it seems more like something some A's fan (no offense, A's fan) with an inferiority complex would create.  I had hoped that the Giants themselves would see it and get ticked off.  Apparently, they did and they weren't happy, but it really didn't show in the first game that they played.

But the A's forgot something when they got way too cocky about this series.  When they played in San Francisco earlier in the month, they didn't have to face Tim "NL League Leader in Strikeouts" Lincecum or Jonathan "NL Player of the Week" Sanchez, the Giants best one-two punch this season.  After Lincecum pitched in a tight pitcher's duel on Saturday, Sanchez shut the A's down, while the Giants offense finally came to life and knocked Joe Blanton around.

Sweet, sweet justice.

I also think it was really nice of the A's to strike out fourteen times on Saturday, making bleacher tickets for Lincecum's next start four bucks.  Unfortunately, I missed out on the sweet four dollar tickets.  I suppose I'll just have to settle for a front row seat in front of the TV instead.  If it's in HD, it's a pretty good trade off.  I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the Giants can keep this up, and that the Barry Zito who pitched against Cleveland last week (vintage Barry Zito) shows up again this week.  With four games against the Cubs and then three games against the Dodgers (I can't believe they haven't been to San Francisco yet this year), this would be the perfect time to really get rolling and start playing well at home.  I'm already hoping Matt Cain can get three strikeouts on Tuesday (not too hard for him to do), so the Giants can have three pitchers with 100+ strikeouts before the All-Star break for the first time in franchise history.  Not too shabby.

Either way, halfway through the season, this team has already been a lot more fun to watch than I expected them to be.

I think today is the first time in over a week that when the fog burned off, the sky was actually blue.

I contemplated heading outside for a jog this morning, but after seeing how hazy and smoky the live shots of San Francisco were on the news this morning, I thought I'd step outside and see what it's like out here.  It's hazy and smells like campfires outside.

Looks like an indoor treadmill jog for me today.

Up until now, whenever I thought of depressing Giants losses against the Royals, I remembered a game in Kansas City in 2003 where Tim Worrell blew a save.  That one made me mad, but this one?  Dude, I am seriously bummed out now.

I'd love to see the Giants put up a fight in the ninth here, but I don't know, I don't see it happening.  Sigh.

Giants bullpen = EPIC FAIL.

I'm going to go throw up now.

Prediction: The Giants are totally going to lose, making this one of the most depressing games of the year thus far, to be filed under "Games I don't want to speak of ever again."  Ugh.
